FAST TO COLUMBIA COUNTY

On June 20, 2008, at 0810 Hrs, a FAST assignment was requested to respond to Columbia County to assist the Stuyvesant Fire Department as they battled a stubborn fire in a balloon frame house. Crews threw ladders, assisted with ventilation, and stood by as the crews from Stuyvesant, South Schodack and Schodack Landing made an aggressive stand, keeping the fire in check.

MUTUAL AID TO BEST LUTHER

On June 12, 2008, while thirteen members were in Lake George at the annual Chief's Trade Show, Engine Co. 8-5, Engine Co. 8-6, and Rescue Co. 8 were requested to respond with Best Luther Fire as part of the 3rd & 4th alarm of fire. BLFD was battling a well advanced fire in a three-thousand square foot contemporary, multi-family home. At the scene, crews assisted with suppression, ventilation, and provided a FAST Engine. In all fifteen members from CHFD responded to assist in operations.

MUTUAL AID FIRE FOR THE HEIGHTS

Shortly after 9PM, departments from the Southern Tier were dispatched for a reported structure fire at 715 Stony Point Rd in the Town of Schodack. Upon investigation fire chiefs found a heavy fire condition in the attic of a two story wood frame structure. Immediately a 2nd alarm was transmitted brining in members from Clinton Heights, East Greenbush and Rensselaer City. Upon arrival crews from 8-5 and Rescue 8 were directed to the roof for vertical ventilation. Members cut a 4x6 hole allowing crews inside to get a quick knock on the fire. Assistant Chief Cherubino managed the scene with 8-5, 8-6 and Rescue 8 for about 1 hour.
