Q: How often should I change the batteries in my smoke detector?

A: You should change your batteries twice a year and it’s recommended you change them every time you set your clocks for standard time and daylight savings time.

Q: Where can I find a fire report from an incident?

Q: Where can I get my fire extinguisher recharged?

A: Contact a private company, found in the yellow pages of the phone book under Fire Extinguishers.

Q: Do you give fire extinguisher training?

A: Yes. Call department headquarters at (518) 465-3990 to schedule a date.

Q: Who do I call to report a broken hydrant?

A: Contact the Department of Public Works at (518) 477-7296.

Q: What is Clinton Heights Fire Department’s ISO rating?

A: Clinton Heights has a current rating of 4, 1 being the highest and 10 being the lowest.

Q: What happens when I call 9-1-1?

A: The call will either be answered by the East Greenbush Police Department, the New York State Police or the Rensselaer County Bureau of Public Safety, depending on if the call is placed from a cellular phone or a land line.

Q: Where do I get an open burn permit?

A: Open burns are not permitted in the Town of East Greenbush unless used for heat, cooking or smudge.

Q: Where is the closest fire station from my residence?

A: Station I is located on Hampton Av and Station II is located on Sherwood Av. Both Stations are located within 3 miles of any residence in the fire district.
