Vehicle Donations

The Clinton Heights Fire Department frequently uses vehicles donated by area residents for hands-on training such as vehicle extrication & vehicle fires. This allows members to sharpen their skills to the fullest in the event that such an incident takes place. If you or anyone you know is interested in donating a vehicle to the department for training, please do not hesitate to call Department Headquarters at (518) 465-3990 or e-mail donations@clintonheightsfire.com for additional information. By donating a vehicle, you are also able to write the donation off on your tax return. Below are a few requirements for donation.

  • Donating person MUST be the vehicle owner and have the vehicle title at the time of the donation.
  • Vehicle can be a van, car, SUV, pickup truck, limousine, bus, etc…
  • Vehicle can be any make, model or year

Property Donations

The CHFD is always open for all possible aspects of training. This includes donations of buildings such as;

  • Run down or vacant houses
  • Barns
  • Trailers or mobile homes
  • Large sheds
  • Garages

The following are requirements for donation:

  • Buildings cannot contain any known hazardous materials
  • Proof of ownership MUST be provided
  • Building MUST not have an open fire insurance policy if live fire training is to be conducted
  • Before training, all buildings will be checked for hazards and/or unsafe materials or construction

Getting opportunities to train with these buildings not only allows firefighters to continue their knowledge of the fire service, but also allow the department to be able to study building construction,  determine water supply issues, form relationships and/or work with neighboring departments, and use the Incident Command System should a fire occur. At all times our department is required to follow both federal and state laws, as well as NFPAand OSHA standards, regulations, and requirements with regard to live fire training. Anyone interested in donating a building for training or with any questions should contact donations@clintonheightsfire.com.
